How to be Safe and enjoy your Solo Trip?

One of the most common concerns, I get from solo female travellers is “Would my daughter be safe while travelling “Solo” with Women Voyagers? What are your Safety Measures? Also, you are worried that being alone will make you a target and you might invite trouble. Many of your friends and family might scare you even more by saying that it’s not safe and the world out there is not so safe for solo women travellers. This may also lead to you doubting your own decision to travel solo, or for some of them, their own inner-voice holds them back.Well I have been that path and it surely can be nerve wrecking.

However, once you get past the initial jitters, solo travelling can be absolutely amazing.I have been a Solo Traveller for the past 2 years and I have not felt scared at all. Well what’s my mantra?

Believe in yourself first. Believe that you can do it. You are Fearless and Have Faith in HIM and his powers. While travelling Solo I realised my intuition became sharper, I became more aware of my surroundings because there’s nobody distracting me, and when locals see me, a girl on her own, they are more likely to want to help me than harm me and I never showed that fear on my face.

Also, you need to make sure that you do your research thoroughly about the place you are going to travel solo to. This is to make sure you are acquainted with the geography, customs, traditions, culture etc. of the place you are visiting. The locals can be your best form of help and you surely don’t want to be disrespectful towards their way of living.

Another very important point is to trust your instincts. If you feel while travelling to a spot that there’s something fishy or it seems unsafe, immediately leave that place. Your instincts are right, more often than not, and also it is always better to be safe than sorry.

Another important tip is to make sure you have your speed dial ready to use in case of an emergency or an untoward incident. These are just some of the basics but can go a long way to make your solo trip fun and safe.
